Officer S. Johnson, Officer C. Klapha, and Officer R. Fitzgerald were the officials involved in the shooting of Joseph Robert Henry Thompson, 66, who was killed, according to the Maryland Attorney General's Office.

Thompson was shot by officers after firing his gun at them outside of an apartment on the 500 block of Virginia Avenue shortly before 9 p.m., Saturday, June 4.

During the gunfire exchange, one officer was shot resulting in non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were then able to locate a woman suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds once in the apartment, and transported her and the injured officer to a hospital for treatment.

The Independent Investigations Division of the Office of the Attorney General is still investigating this police involved shooting and circumstances surrounding it.
